Several years ago, I started my own brand called Double Barrel Jam that was intended to be a spontaneous and versatile way of producing music for any occasion (thus the choosing of the word ‘jam’). It just seems to fit what I do and how I like to surprise people in a good way. My favorite musical memory was a wedding that I played for in Natchez, Mississippi. I didn’t know the bride but she made a special request to process into the church to the tune of “Go the Distance” from the Disney movie “Hercules.” I loved the song and wanted it to be special, so I worked on a version that I thought she might like. I arrived early to make sure that it was the right length, tempo, volume, etc. When I finished, I looked up and the young bride was standing in the door in tears. She said “It’s exactly what I wanted.” Now, that’s what I enjoy doing more than anything – taking an idea and creating something special from it.
